Microsoft's 'Edge' browser first debuted on Windows 10 about two years ago and was solely a desktop browser. Well, not anymore as Microsoft confirmed the official release of the Edge browser (beta version) on iOS with the Android version said to be coming "soon"
The Microsoft Edge browser will be looking to fight off competition with already establish browsers like Chrome, Safari, Opera Mini and UC Browser, amongst others (I hope it can). The Edge browser is already available for testing on iOS and it comes with a few neat tricks.
One is the "Continue on PC" option, which will in essence, export whatever you are working on in a particular page on the Microsoft Edge browser to the desktop app, so you can pick up where you left off. The feature even has a button dedicated to it that can be found right next to the back, forward and refresh ones.
You also now get Reading View like on the desktop Edge browser and there is also Hub View, which is a collection of all your bookmarks, your reading list, your history, and your downloads. Microsoft also allow you to sync your data across devices, but it is only limited to reading list and favourites for now. Passwords and Microsoft Store purchase will arrive at a later date.
As mentioned earlier, Microsoft Edge browser is available for testing but only to people residing in the United States and you have to be on Windows Insider (Microsoft's volunteer beta tester community) to get a preview version. And lastly, in order to install the app on you iOS device, you'll need to link your phone to your PC via a somewhat convoluted process involving your Microsoft account, your phone number, and at least one app install.
