Under-display fingerprint sensor may come with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9
So, this year Samsung and Apple according to several rumours, tried to implement the under-display fingerprint sensor but failed to do so and the authentication tech was pushed aside, making Samsung adopt the akwardly placed fingerprint sensor on the back of the Note8 and Apple completely getting rid of it on its iPhone X.
But now, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the 2018 Galaxy Note 9 will come with the under-display fingerprint sensor. If this happens as it is rumoured to be, you simply will just place your finger on a portion of the display to unlock the device or do any related stuff designated for the optical sensor.
For 2018, Samsung will apparently use a technology that allows the AMOLED screen to double as a light source for the sensor, as this should result in better battery life. Kuo, who is mostly known for Apple-related rumours says Samsung Electronics have already received sample shipments of the tech from BeyondEyes and Samsung LSI, and either one of the companies may likely win the contract for supplies - if not, that could be Egis, the firm that right now supplies the standard fingerprint sensors for the Galaxy phones.
