The Tecno Spark 2 Pro is, as the 'Pro' moniker suggest, an upgrade to the Tecno Spark 2 as it offers slight improvements in some key areas. The budget-friendly device boasts of a dual camera setup, better processing power and a full fledged Android 8.1 Oreo OS. Read on to find out more about the Spark 2 Pro.

Design and Display

The build of the Tecno Spark 2 Pro is similar to that of its sibling. The phone has a slim form-factor with a plain looking body from front to back. The sides and edges of the Spark 2 Pro are slightly curved for better handling while the front sees reduced side bezels on the 18:9 Full View display. Flipping to the back, you find the fingerprint scanner, alongside the dual camera modules and the LED flash.

The Tecno Spark 2 Pro is fitted with the same 6.0-inch IPS HD+ display unit at 1440 x 720 pixel resolution and around 300 ppi pixel density. This should provide a decent performance while viewing photos and videos.

Camera, Performance & Storage

Camera-wise, the Tecno Spark 2 Pro packs a dual camera setup with a LED flash on the back. A 13-megapixel main camera, coupled with a 2-megapixel one. The camera setup here can shoot Full-HD videos at 1080p and comes with features like Beautify, HDR, Scene selection and more. An 8-megapixel front camera is what you get for selfies, and thanks to the flash included, you can easily take bright photos in low lit areas. In general, expect the Tecno Spark 2 Pro to shine in terms of photography.

Under the hood is a slightly upgraded Quad-core CPU (MediaTek MT6739 chipset) and GPU (PowerVR GE8100), clocked at 1.5 GHz with a boosted 2GB of RAM. The 16GB internal storage on the Spark 2 Pro can be expanded via the memory card slot up to 128GB. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, beneath HiOS 3.3. An upgrade to Android P has not been confirmed at the time of writing this review.

Battery and Other features

The Tecno Spark 2 Pro gets its juice from a 3,500 mAh battery unit which should get you through a day with fair usage. The device doesn't support fast charging but it comes with a new FaceID feature for unlocking the device with your face.

The phablet supports dual SIM and super fast 4G LTE internet connection. Other connectivity features on the Spark 2 Pro are Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, Wi-fi, Wi-fi hotspot and more.

Alternative Smartphones to Tecno Spark 2 Pro

You can check out other budget phones like the Tecno Spark 2, Tecno Pouvoir 2, Tecno F3, Tecno F2 and Tecno F1 which all sell at a much lower price tag. The Itel A32F is also a nice cheap smartphone that boots on Android Oreo and even sports a fingerprint scanner at a much lower price range.
