Infinix Hot 6 vs Infinix Hot 6 Pro; Which Should You Buy?

Infinix has officially unveiled the newest series of the budget, mid-ranged 'Hot' smartphones; the Infinix Hot 6 and Hot 6 Pro at an event in Lagos, Nigeria and the early impressions and reviews have been positive so far.

With both devices set to hit Infinix retail outlets and credible online stores nationwide by the first week of June, we take a look at what is similar and different in this detailed specs comparison (Infinix Hot 6 vs Infinix Hot 6 Pro), and which one offers more value and is worthy of your hard-earned cash.

Before I proceed, I'll like to state categorically that this post is not in any way trying to trick you into buying any of these devices but to guide your purchasing decision if you decide to pick any..., or both. With that said, here is the detailed specs comparison between Infinix Hot 6 and Infinix Hot 6 Pro:

Design

Design-wise, the Infinix Hot 6 and Infinix Hot 6 Pro are notoriously identical, with the same 7.8 mm thickness and 158g weight. You can hardly tell which is which when both phones are placed side by side. The body on both devices is made of a refined Plastic, with poly-carbonate material which does a good job in hiding scratches.

The dual camera setup rests at the top right corner on the back and at the middle is the fingerprint sensor, while a blending accent, which will purportedly serve as the antenna bands lines the top and bottom. Infinix Hot 6 and Infinix Hot 6 Pro are both offered in Sandstone Black, City Blue, Magic Gold and Bordeaux Red.

Display

A 6.0-inch HD+ IPS touchscreen is what is fitted on both phones. The display, which has a 780 x 1440 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 282 ppi is also protected by a 2.5D glass. Worth mentioning is that the display is near bezel-less (with 76.1% screen-to-body ratio), noticeably at the sides, and also, the Hot 6 and Hot 6 Pro are the second and third smartphone, respectively in Infinix's camp to sport a display with a 18:9 aspect ratio that practically provides more room for content and gives you that full view experience.

Hardware and Software

This is where we see a little difference between the Hot 6 and Hot 6 Pro. The former is rocking 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, while the latter packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage, and both devices support expansion with a memory card of up to 128GB. Both phones are powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 425 SoC -- first two Infinix smartphones with a Snapdragon chipset -- with Adreno 308 GPU, and a 1.4 GHz clock speed. They both boot on Android 8.0 Oreo with XOS 3 on top.

Camera

In terms of camera, both devices are rocking the same dual 13-megapixel (f/2.0) primary and 2-megapixel secondary cameras on the back, with dual-LED flash, while at the front of both the Hot 6 and Hot 6 Pro is a 5-megapixel sensor for your selfies. The cameras come with several modes and features that can help enhance your photos; some of which include portrait mode, wide angle mode, digital zoom, bokeh effect, HDR, panorama, ISO settings and more.

Battery

Infinix opted for the same battery capacity on both phones. The Infinix Hot 6 and Hot 6 Pro gets its juice from a 4,000 mAh battery unit that is non-removable. Both devices also feature fast charging to help get the phones juiced up in no time. Worthy of mention is the Face ID feature on both the Hot 6 and Hot 6 Pro that gives you access with the scan of you face.

Price

In terms of price, Infinix Hot 6 comes at a cheaper price range of 40,000 naira to 50,000 naira while the Infinix Hot 6 Pro is a bit more expensive and comes at a price range of 50,000 naira to 60,000 naira.

Conclusion

Well, there you have it. First off, there is not much difference between the Infinix  Hot 6 and Hot 6 Pro. However, the Infinix Hot 6, with 2GB of RAM and Oreo pre-installed cannot conveniently joggle heavy apps, in other words multitask as the OS takes up at least 1GB of the 2GB of RAM. The Infinix Hot 6 Pro on the other hand, with an extra 1GB of RAM should multitask heavy apps smoothly.

Which should you buy?
Well, that choice is entire up to you. But in my honest opinion, if you don't use too many heavy apps and are on a budget, the Infinix Hot 6 should suffice, but if you require more power and space, then the Infinix Hot 6 Pro is highly recommended.
