The Tecno Camon X is the fifth iteration in the camera-focused Camon series from the Chinese smartphone makers. The Camon series, over the years are built to appeal to 'selfie' lovers and the Camon X is no exception. Camon X packs a 20MP selfie shooter with dual-LED flash, a 3,750mAh battery, a new Face ID feature and Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box.

Design & Display
Tecno Camon X shines in terms of design with a sleek look and polished finish. The bezels are noticeably thinner on all sides and the back is slightly curved to enable the Camon X rest well in your palms.
The display on the Camon X is also impressive on paper. Camon X sports a big 6.0 inch HD screen with a 1440 x 720 pixel resolution.
With a 10% boost in brightness that maxes out at 500 nits, expect videos, photos and text on the Camon X to appear sharp and crisp even under direct sunlight. Camon X comes in three colours; Champagne Gold, Midnight Black, City Blue.
Camera, Performance & Storage
Tecno wants to take your selfies to another level with the Camon X. The device is packed with a 20-megapixel front-facing camera that can achieve a wide range of image processing and effect, one of which is the bokeh effect.
Tecno also adds dual-LED flash to the selfie camera on the Camon X to help enhance photos taken in low light areas. The brightness of the LED flash up front can be adjusted on the go with gestures, Tecno claims.
The Camon X sports a 16 megapixel camera at the back. With a powerful LED flash included, expect to take stunning photos at any time of the day. The camera can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.
The Camon X is powered by an Octa-core Mediatek processor that runs at 2.0GHz and is backed by 3GB of RAM. This setup should handle multitasking without much hiccups and most games should also run smoothly. Camon X ships with 16GB base storage, which you can further expand via a microSD of up to 128GB.
Camon X runs on Android 8.1 with HiOS 3.0 overlay. The company didn't state if the Camon X will receive an early Android P upgrade.
Battery & Other features
The Camon X gets a 3,750mAh battery unit to help keep the lights on. The device also has fast charging technology (light speed charging) built in which should get your device fired up quickly if you are low on battery juice. With just 10mins of charge, Tecno claims you can take as much as 1000 photos - now that's a lot of photos!
Camon X supports dual SIM and super fast 4G LTE internet connection. The Camon X comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back for that extra security. It also comes with a new Face ID feature that helps unlock the phablet with a scan of your face.
Other connectivity features on the Camon X are a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth and Wi-fi 802.11/b/g/n.

Alternative Smartphones to Tecno Camon X
The cheaper options in the Tecno line of smartphones that focuses on the camera experience are the Tecno Spark and Spark Plus. The Phantom 8 is another great option although it comes with a higher price tag.
