Apple makes a complete overhaul to the iPhone line with the iPhone X (pronounced ten). The iPhone X comes with a 5.8-inch AMOLED all-screen, bezel-less display, dual 12 megapixel cameras, wireless charging and a new FaceID for optimum security.

Design & Display
The Design of the iPhone X is one of its highlights. The iPhone X comes with a solid build with glass on both the front and back and a frame made of stainless steel. The sides and edges of the iPhone X are curved to help ease handling.
The iPhone X also sees the removal of the Home key and is now replaced by the all-screen AMOLED display.
The iPhone X measures 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm and weighs 174 g. iPhone X comes in just two colours; Space Gray and Silver.
The 5.8-inch all-screen, bezel-less AMOLED display on the iPhone X ‒ which is called "Super Retina display" – is the sharpest in any iPhone yet, with a resolution of 1125 x 2436 pixels and a pixel density of 458 ppi. It also supports 3D touch, HDR10 and Dolby vision.
The iPhone X display is big, compared to other iPhones but it's a display size that have existed on Android smartphones for a while now. The display should provide stunning viewing experience and should be quite visible outdoors.
Camera
The iPhone X has two new and improved 12-megapixel cameras vertically placed on the back, with the quad-LED flash in the middle, which supports slow sync. Both cameras have Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) built-in, with autofocus as well. The telephoto lens has a brighter aperture of f/2.4 for better low light photos.
iPhone X comes with a new 'Portrait Lighting' mode that lets you adjust the lighting levels of a portrait photo ranging from natural lighting, studio lighting, contour lighting and stage lighting. The portrait lighting works with both the back and selfie cameras. You can also change the lighting effect after taking the photo if you so desire.
The cameras on the iPhone X can now shoot 2160p (4K) videos at 60fps (the first in a smartphone), and 1080p videos can also now be shot at highest speeds of 240fps. Other features the camera comes with include geo-tagging, simultaneous 4K video and 8MP image recording, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR.
On the front of the iPhone X sits a 7-megapixel selfie camera, with features like face detection, HDR and panorama. The camera can record 1080p video.

Performance & Storage
The iPhone X runs on the new A11 Bionic chip with six cores; two of which are powerful cores to take care of power-hungry task while the remaining four are energy-efficient cores for less demanding operations, and it is paired with 3 GB of RAM which is more than enough for smooth multitasking on an iPhone.
No Micro SD card slot on the iPhone X and you get two storage options; 64 GB or 256 GB.
Battery & Other Features
The non-removable battery on the iPhone X, according to Apple will last you two more hours than last years' iPhone 7.
The iPhone X comes with fast charging and Qi wireless charging support that can take you from flat to 50% charge in just 30 mins. The iPhone X runs on iOS 11.
FaceID
The removal of the Home button on the iPhone X birthed the FaceID. This is a new way of unlocking the device that uses face recognition. It marks up over 30,000 points on your face to help recognize you even in the dark or with different hairdo.
Apple warns that identical twins maybe able to trick the FaceID feature. There is also no mention of whether it will work with heavy makeup.
There is also now what Apple calls 'animoji' (animated emojis). These are 6 to 7 emojis on the iPhone X that comes to life and reads your voice and facial expression - thanks to the FaceID - which can then be sent to friends via iMessage. Apple is looking to add support for other messaging apps soon.
Swipe Gestures
With the all-screen display on the iPhone X comes new swipe gestures. You now;
- 'Swipe up to unlock' when the display is on from the lockscreen.
- 'Swipe up from the bottom to the middle' to go to multitasking.
- 'Swipe up from the bottom and throw' to exit or minimize an app.
- 'Swipe down from the top right' to bring down Control center.
- 'Swipe down from directly below the notch or cutout' to bring down Notification center.
- 'Swipe down from the middle' of the phone to bring up 'Search.'
All of these swipe gestures might not be easy to grab at first but you should get used to it with time.
Price & Availability
The iPhone X is not yet available for pre-order until the 27th of October, 2017 and will go on sale on the 3rd of November, 2017. When available, you will be able to purchase the iPhone X at leading online stores in you country.
iPhone X price in Nigeria should range between ₦359,000 ($999) to ₦500,000. iPhone X price in Kenya should range between KSh104,000 to KSh155,000. Please note that prices may vary depending on the storage capacity and your location.

Alternative Smartphones to The iPhone X
The iPhone X comes with a heavy price tag ($999) compared to the iPhone 8 ($699) and 8 Plus ($799). Both the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus offer similar specs and features.
The iPhone 8 Plus also offers dual camera setup and the same 3GB of RAM as the iPhone X.
Elsewhere are the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, LG V30, Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus which all offer high end specs.
The Nokia 8 is also another great Android smartphone to consider and it sells at a much lower price tag. It offers dual 13-megapixel sensors on the back and a 13-megapixel selfie shooter and 4GB/6GB of RAM.
