The issue of carrying over your unused data into a new subscription will soon be a thing of the past, thanks to the Nigerian Communications Commision, NCC.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has given directives to telecom operators to commence data rollover promptly from June 26, 2018, according to Daily Trust.
The directive was given by the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Umar Danbatta who was represented by the commission’s Head of Information and Reference Unit, Ismail Adedigba at the 95th Consumers Outreach Programme in Dutse, Jigawa State.
That means starting from June 26, you don’t have to worry about making sure that you finish your data before its expiry date as any unused data would be carried over to the next data subscription.
Any operator that fails to comply with this directive will pay a fine of ₦5 million, on the first rollover failure and ₦500,000 on each day that follows, for every subscriber whose data didn’t get rolled over.
This move by the telecom industry regulator is very commendable and will bring joy to the heart of subscribers whom will now get more value for their data subscription.
However, the issue of high rate of data depletion or deduction experienced by many customers still needs to be addressed.
