Microsoft's new Surface Laptop is "A glue-filled monstrosity", almost impossible to repair

Microsoft released the Surface Laptop a few weeks back and it has been getting positive feedback so far. Well, until now!
iFixit, a global community of people specialized in gadget repairs, had one of its teardown specialist try take apart the Surface Laptop. But according to the specialist, It’s also apparently impossible to repair on your own.

As noted by the technicians, it is almost impossible to open it without tearing the Alcantara fabric it is covered with. This was the order because there are no screws on the outside. The individual components, underneath, are also difficult to remove: the keyboard is glued down, and the motherboard is covered with a series of thermal pads. The team also reports that they can’t disconnect the battery until several other components are removed, and once they get to it, they found that it’s glued directly to the case.

The Surface Laptop scored a 0/10 rating when it comes to repairability, which is even worse than the Surface book released a couple of years ago: 1/10. iFixit reports that the laptop isn’t designed to be repaired, and users can’t upgrade individual components like the CPU, Ram or storage because they’re soldered to the motherboard.😱

Their verdict? “It’s a glue-filled monstrosity. There is nothing about it that is upgradable or long-lasting, and it literally can’t be opened without destroying it.”

My verdict? " Bring it to Computer Village, Lagos" 😎
