[Watch] Falz new music video "This Is Nigeria" epitomizes Nigeria's present day societal woes!

[Watch] Falz New Music Video "This Is Nigeria" Summaries Nigeria's Societal ills in One Place!

A music video by Nigeria's multi-talented artiste, Folarin Falana a.k.a Falz a.k.a FalzTheBahdGuy, titled "This Is Nigeria", is currently the gist on everyone's lips as it addresses the current societal ills in the Nigerian society. The political soundtrack is a cover to Childish Gambino's "This Is America", which has amassed over 190 million views on YouTube.

Earlier this month, May 5th to be precise, Childish Gambino (real name Donald Glover) dropped “This is America”. A politically-inspired song that tells of the current trends in America such as gun violence in churches, Black on Black violence, how entertainment has clouded the real issues in America and more.

In like manner, Falz talks about the current ills in the Nigerian society. In the opening scene, Falz can be seen holding a radio to his ear like the Fulanis from the Northern part of Nigeria do. As the track went on, he talks about the Fulani herdsmen that have transformed from peace loving people playing the “Goje” to cutlass-wielding marauders.

He talks about the corruption (money vanishing in government parastatals and blamed on animals), depicts the Chibok girls situation and the fact that everyone is assumed to be a criminal in Nigeria.

Like Childish Gambino’s “This is America” where people danced the South African “Gwara Gwara” dance which is currently trending, he also shows the trending “Shaku Shaku” dance in Nigeria. In all, entertainment seems to have numbed the society’s feelings towards the deplorable state of the nation.

He also depicts the current drug (codeine) problem among youths, the recently concluded “Big Brother Naija” show. He talks about the politicians who have looted the country and still contest elections, the electricity problem and the recent viral opinion that Nigerian youths are lazy.

Churches are also not left out in this track. He talked about how some pastors raise money from the congregation to fund personal projects and also trick congregants in the guise of deliverance.

He also raises the menacing issue of SARS operatives and depicts the trending IGP Idris ”transmission speech”, and how fraudsters a.k.a Yahoo boys are being celebrated and the recent Noble Igwe saga for calling them out on Twitter.

Falz has been known to be outspoken about his views and to always tell his truth in his lyrics in the past. Before this track, he had publicly condemned 9ice, a popular Nigerian artiste for celebrating fraudsters in one of his hit songs titled "Living Things". "This is Nigeria" is currently trending at number one on YouTube and has over 400k views to its credit.
