The rumours are beginning to surface for Samsungs upcoming 2019 flagship phones - the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 9.
Meanwhile, the rumours and speculations have been much on the Galaxy S10 which should traditionally preceed the Galaxy Note 9. This is not about to change anytime soon as early reports suggest Samsung plans on unveiling the S10 in January of 2019.
A new report out of South Korea now making the rounds has to do with some features of the Galaxy S10, and probably the Galaxy S10+. According to the report, Samsung will implement the in-display fingerprint scanning tech on the Galaxy S10. A move which has proved futile in recent years.
The reports adds that Samsung feels that it needs to do something special for what will be the tenth anniversary of its hugely successful Galaxy S line. Working on the in-display biometric scanner are U.S. suppliers like Qualcomm and Synaptics, along with Taiwan's Ezestek.
Sammy will also look to pack in 3D sensing camera modules on the Galaxy S10 which allows Apple achieve the Face ID feature but there is no certainty yet. The report notes that Mantis Vision and Samsung Electronics Institute of Technology have been assigned the task of developing the required algorithms for such a feature, but at the moment this technology is not ready for prime time.
While those suppliers involved in delivering parts and components for the in-display fingerprint scanner have reportedly "detected mass production movements," suppliers for a 3D sensing camera have yet to see the same actions that would indicate that this technology is ready to be produced.
Meanwhile, Samsung also reportedly has a foldable Galaxy phone in the works which we should see in 2019. The device has been rumoured to be called the Galaxy X but Samsung hasn't made any revelations as of now so take all these rumours with a pinch of salt.
