Yesterday, the Chinese tech market became a major headliner as several tech companies including Xiaomi unveiled lots of new gadgets in Beijing, China. Xiaomi made most of those headlines with the unveiling of a number of new gadgets.
Notable mentions are the new flagship smartphone from Xiaomi - the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 which I covered in this article, and the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro, which the Chinese tech giants say will stand up to the Apple MacBook Pro.
The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro is designed like the MacBook Pro with its slim profile. The Mi Notebook Pro houses a 15.6-inch display (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) with narrow bezels on the sides.
It runs on Intel’s latest quad-core i7 processor with up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of SSD storage and relies on Nvidia’s GeForce MX150 for graphics.

The Mi Notebook Pro is stuffed with loads of port compared to only four Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports featured on Apple's MacBook Pro. It has a 3-in-1 card reader, two USB-C ports, a full-sized HDMI port and two regular USB ports.
It also has a fingerprint sensor built into its precision trackpad.
The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro doesn't have a release date and no information on which market it will hit first but the laptop will sell at a price tag of 6399 Chinese yuan ($980) for the base model, which should be about 352,000 naira in Nigeria at the current exchange rate.
Do you think Xiaomi's Mi Notebook Pro can actually rival the MacBook Air? kindly share your thoughts in the comment section.
