vivo may be the first smartphone maker to embed the fingerprint sensor in the screen

Samsung released its Galaxy S8/S8+ over the backdrop of rumors that the devices will come with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the screen which didn't happen. And the focus has now shifted to the upcoming Note8 and Apple's next iPhones ( to be dubbed iPhone 8 or iPhone X).

But if a new report from China is accurate, vivo is set to one-up both Samsung and Apple from this point of view. The company already has a working prototype for such a fingerprint scanner, as you can see in the leaked image below. This is a screencap from a video that got out today.

A famous Chinese analyst says vivo will launch a new phone on June 28, and that device may be the one employing the novel unlocking technique.

That said, Apple is still expected to be the company bringing such a solution into the mainstream globally with its iPhone 8, as Samsung has recently been rumored to have given up on the prospect for the Note8 (perhaps due to lack of time before its supposed August announcement).
