Design and Display
The Nokia 8 Sirocco is sandwiched in an all-glass body, made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and a stainless steel frame that screams premium both in looks and feel. The sides, from both the front and back are curved into the frame while the edges are a bit sharper. The bezels are also thinner on all sides but surprisingly, it features a 16:9 aspect ratio which users considers a bit old for a flagship smartphone in 2018.
You get the fingerprint sensor on the back, just below the vertically arranged dual cameras and as mentioned before, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is the first HMD phone to come with Qi Wireless charging, thanks to the glass back. Also, in terms of colour, Nokia 8 Sirocco will only be released in Black.
Camera, Hardware and Software
The dual camera, with Zeiss optics on the Nokia 8 Sirocco features a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and another 12-megapixel telephoto sensor with f/2.6 aperture. The cameras, backed with dual LED flash place to left, can shoot videos at 2160p and has 2x optical zoom and bothie mode capability. The 5-megapixel camera on the front of the Nokia 8 Sirocco is decent and can shoot videos at 1080p. This is a solid setup that should perform well in both bright and low light conditions.
Performance-wise, the Nokia 8 Sirocco ships with the high-end Octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor (with 4 of the cores clocked at 2.5 GHz to handle rigorous multitasking while the other 4 maxes out at 1.8 GHz for lesser task), with an Adreno 540 GPU. You get a massive 6GB of internal memory, coupled with 128 GB in-built storage and with no option for expansion. Nokia 8 Sirocco runs on Android 8.0 Oreo, and thanks to the stock android, you should get swift update to Android P when it finally arrives.
HMD also packed in the OZO audio technology on the 8 Sirocco like we saw on last years Nokia 8, that enables audio recording at high dynamic range while utilizing multiple mics... three in this case.
Battery and Other Features
Nokia 8 Sirocco depends on a 3, 260 mAh battery for juice which might not be huge considering its power. But HMD has added a slew of charging options which includes fast charging with Quick Charge 4.0 and Qi Wireless charging.
Connectivity options on the Nokia 8 Sirocco includes dual SIM , 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, Wi-Fi and more. In Nigeria, the Nokia 8 Sirocco will support LTE on all major networks including MTN, 9mobile, NTel, Globacom, InterC, and Smile.
Price and Availability
The Nokia 8 Sirocco is not yet available in Nigeria but it's expected to hit major stores in the coming months. Nokia 8 Sirocco price in Nigeria should range between N315,000 to N355,000. Please not that prices may vary depending on your location.
