Yeah, you read that right! 10 seconds was all it took for the Nokia X6 to be sold out in China.
After amassing over 700,000 reservations in the past week from two Chinese e-commerce firms, JT.com and Suning, the Nokia X6 was reported to have sold out in 10 seconds during a flash sale on 21st May, 2018. Although the number of units sold was not made available.
For those of you not in the know, Nokia X6 took center-stage last week when it was launched as it was the first mid-ranged smartphone from Nokia to sport a notch (a cut-out at the top of the display). Afterwards, HMD announced that it will be only the sold in China; a decision which the company had since gone back on after a poll carried out by HMD Global's Chief Product Officer, Mr. Juho Sarvikas, suggests users outside China wanted the phone badly... and for good reasons too.
Aside the trendy notch, the Nokia X6 comes in an all-glass body and features a 5.8-inch display with a 1080 x 2280 FHD+ resolution, and a 19:9 aspect ratio. For the internals, the device packs a Snapdragon 636 chipset, which carries an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz. A dual camera setup (12MP + 5MP) graces the back of the device, and a 16MP selfie snapper is found in front. Keeping the lights on is a 3,000mAh battery, and Android Oreo is pre-installed. All of these at a starting price of $203 for the 4GB/32GB model, $235 for the 4GB/64GB model and the ultimate 6GB/64GB variant goes for $266. That is around 65,000 naira to 80,000 naira at today's exchange rate.
The next flash sale for the Nokia X6 will hold on the 30th of May, and as mentioned earlier, the company is considering selling the device outside China,.. hopefully, it will come to Nigeria too. With the massive sales the Nokia X6 has made in it's first day of sale, the sky can only be the limit for the Nokia X6 and HMD Global if it is eventually sold globally.
