The Chinese tech firm has released the upgrade to last year's Mi Mix -Mi Mix 2, and a lot of changes has been addressed in this years flagship. The most obvious change in the Mi Mix 2 is the display which now has subtle bezels all around unlike the Mi Mix which completely eliminated the side and top bezels.

Coming in at 5.99-inches, the display is a sight to behold. The edge-to-edge display technology which has been the trend adopted by most smartphone companies, such as Samsung and LG, this year grazes the front of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with an aspect ratio of 18:9 that makes the device appear tall. The Full HD+ IPS LCD display comes in at 2,060 by 1,080 resolution. The design of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is also premium, with a ceramic back and aluminum frame.

While most smartphone makers tend to place the secondary or 'selfie' camera lens at the top, Xiaomi decides to go otherwise. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2's 5-megapixel secondary camera rests in the bottom right corner of the phone, which explains why the frame below is slightly larger. The frame also houses other necessary sensors (except a proximity sensor) and a notification light. On the back is the single 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 camera module with 4-axis optical image stabilization (OIS).

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 ships with top tier specs in terms of performance; Snapdragon 835, Adreno 540 GPU, 6 GB of RAM (or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage for the Special edition)- with either 64 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB storage options.

All this power is backed with a reliable 3,400 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. The Verge reports that the battery can last a full day of use with no problems. But there is a little drawback you will have to live with if you decide to go for the Mi Mix 2, which is lack of water proofing, headphone jack and wireless charging. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat that is overlapped by MIUI 9.

The base model of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, that is the 6GB + 64GB starts at 420 euros (about 180, 000 naira) and goes up to 510 euros( about 220, 000 naira) for the 128GB version. The Special Edition 8GB +128GB starts from 700 euros (about 300, 000 naira).
