Photos: Evan Blass @evleaks |
While we almost certainly know the launch date, there was no information revealed about what the looks of the device will be and the specs it will come. Well, all that might just have changed. Leakster Evan Blass with Twitter handle @evleaks leaked the alleged official renders of the HTC U12 Plus on his page, and immediately followed with a photo of the full specs sheet of the said device. Evan Blass has been accurate in the past about device renders and specs so it's hard not to believe this one.
The first thing we noticed is the thin bezels at all sides of the phone up front. HTC decided not to introduce the notch which gives room for a dual camera setup, while at the back is also another dual camera setup. The device was tipped to come with the translucent colour variant, alongside the Violet, Red Rose and Black colours. The renders above shows the translucent, Violet or Red Rose and Black.
- A new “pressure-sensitive” feature and a new “touch feedback” experience. What does this mean?
- IP68 certification, resistant to water and dust.
- The device will run on Android 8.0 Oreo, upgradable to Android P.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
- 2880 x 1440 resolution in an 18:9, 6-inch display
- 6GB of RAM and the choice of 64GB or 128GB of storage
- microSD expansion slot
- 12MP and 16MP rear cameras
- 8MP and 8MP front cameras
- Always-on listening support for virtual assistants
- 3,500mAh battery
As mentioned earlier, all of these will still be treated as just leaks as HTC have not confirmed any of the above information yet. But going by what we've seen, the HTC U12 Plus will definitely be a great smartphone. It remains to see what the price of the U12 Plus will be; a major factor that will determine its success. The device will likely be unveiled on May 23rd.
