F9 gets postponed to April 10, 2020 |
If you are a die-hard fan of the "Fast & Furious" franchise and you're patiently waiting for the ninth entry in the franchise, I have news for you. "F9" is not coming any time soon!
Fast & Furious 9 was previously slated to be released in 2019 but as it turns out, this will no longer be so. According to a post from Fast & Furious on its official Twitter page, F9, as they put it will be coming by April 10, 2020. The reason/s behind this postponement was however not revealed in the post or by Universal Pictures itself.

But there is more to the story, and the reason for that move is gradually coming to light. According to one of the cast in the Fast & Furious franchise, Tyrese Gibson (who played Roman Pearce in the second, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth films), the soul reason or, rather person to blame for this postponement is Dywane Johnson, popular known as "The Rock."
Below is the Instagram post made by Tyrese Gibson blaming The Rock for the postponement of "F9":
Tyrese went further to post another photo showing the original Fast & Furious cast, with neither him or The Rock in the picture. And he had more to tell former WWE star in the post:
So, what else do I know about the upcoming Fast 9? Well, there as been talks going on about a spinoff of the Fast & Furious franchise which will feature Dwayne Johnson (to play Lucas Hobbs ) and Jason Statham (to play Deckard Shaw) and according to The Hollywood Reporter, it appears the spinoff is being fast-tracked ahead of the ninth film, hence the postponement. They also noted that attempts to court director Justin Lin may be another reason why the film has been pushed back.
Tyrese Gibson, according to US Weekly had previously made attempts to contact Dwayne Johnson on phone but he wasn't picking up so he decide to leave a comment on one of The Rock's Instagram post, which had since been deleted. In the post, Tyrese called on Dwayne to agree not to film the spinoff until the ninth movie is done. But the "Baywatch" and "Moana" actor never replied and hasn't commented on Gibson's posts and accusations.
