Android users with rooted devices can kiss the Netflix app goodbye as it no longer offers support for rooted devices.
The company's recent update is now listed as "Incompatible" on the Google Play Store; so have users complained.

This is certainly a bad news for users trying out the Netflix app for the first time on a rooted Android device. But the good news for existing users is that they can still enjoy binge watching their favorite movies and TV shows but will not be able to update the app from the Play Store.
According to a report, the company made this known through a statement given to Android Police. Netflix, in the statement, has said that 5.0 version of the app relies fully on Widevine DRM provided by Google and that those devices that are not Google-certified or have been altered will no longer be able to download the app from the Play Store.
This sudden move to stop rooted Android devices from downloading the Netflix app will be frowned at by many users, most certainly, and might even be a good enough reason for them to find an alternative elsewhere. We only hope existing users with rooted phones will not be blocked eventually from using the Netflix app.
