The Tecno Spark and Spark Plus were easily the most successful and best selling smartphones from Tecno last year, and for a lot of reasons too. The devices were centered around a great camera experience, while also adding some extra cools features and selling at affordable prices.
Fast forward to 2018, Tecno are now warming up to the release of the Spark 2 (and possibly Spark 2 Plus) that will dethrone the Tecno Spark and Spark Plus (the K7 and K9), according to early reports. Not much has been revealed of the upcoming Spark 2 but with the rumours making the rounds, the device (or devices) could possibly be another top selling ones in the African market this year.
Early speculations has revealed the specs and what the Tecno Spark 2 will look like. The device will reportedly feature a 6-inch display with the trending 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the phone will be powered by a Mediatek MT6580WP SoC with Quad-core processor. Both the Spark 2 and Spark 2 Plus/Pro is rumoured to be running on Android Oreo (Go Edition) with 1 GB of RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo with HiOS overlay and 2 GB of RAM respectively.
On the rear side of the device will be a 13-megapixel camera while the front is expected to house an 8-megapixel sensor with dual-flash setup. The front-facing camera will feature face unlock and portrait mode/bokeh mode. A 3,500 mAh battery will be powering the Spark 2 and, going by the leaked photo, a fingerprint scanner will also be present.
Tecno Spark 2 is expected to be launched this Q2 and the device should retail around the same price as the Tecno Spark. Stay tuned to get updates on the Spark 2 as more information emerges in the coming weeks.
