Samsung Expands Bixby Assistant for Galaxy S8 To Over 200 Countries Including Nigeria and South Africa
Bixby, Samsung's own virtual assistant which debuted on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ back in March, 2017 has now been expanded to over 200 countries worldwide.
The assistant which rivals other virtual assistants like Apple's Siri, Google assistant and Amazon's Alexa, was only available in the United States of America and South Korea but has now been expanded further to countries like the U.K., Australia, Canada, Nigeria and South Africa.
According to Samsung, this is to allow millions of customers experience a smarter way to interact with their phones.
Samsung also said that it plans to go beyond more device support in the immediate future, by adding new languages, features and third-party app integration.
The update is still limited to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ for now but Samsung said it is working to expand to more devices.
“The expansion of Bixby’s voice capabilities is an initial step in the continued rollout of Bixby functionality. In the future, Bixby will have the learning power to offer more intelligent and personalized interactions and seamless connections across more devices,” said Injong Rhee, executive VP and head of R&D, software and services for Samsung’s mobile business.
Meanwhile, there has been rumors making the rounds that Samsung plans to release its smart speakers too, which might see it integrated with Bixby voice.
