Nigeria Now Has Over 91.6M People Using The Internet


The number of people using the internet in Nigeria has hit 91.6M in June, According to Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The number of users increased from 91, 595,319 in May to 91,629,066 in June 2017. This is according to the Monthly Internet Subscribers Data published on its official website for the month of June 2017, which encompasses the number of active customers for data services on each of the licensed network providers utilising different technologies.



From the data, it showed that between May 2017 and June 2017, 33,747 customers were provided with internet by GSM service providers.

The data also shows that MTN had the most number of Internet subscribers in June with 31,691,070, while Glo followed suit with 27,184,002 users on its network.

Airtel numbers increased from 19, 912,661 in May to 20, 174,089 in June, adding 261,428 to its record of internet subscribers.

Etisalat (now 9mobile) saw a decrease in the number of Internet subscribers from its May record of 12,843,424 users to 12,549,596 users in June. This means that they lost 293,828 internet users.
