Android 2.1, since its launch roughly 7 years ago, only supports the Android Market. But that will no longer be the case come June 30 this year.
Starting from 1st of July, 2017, people using such ancient devices will no longer have access to the Android Market, which means no more new apps to install.
The change will take place without any notification on the device, because of some unnamed "technical restrictions" in the Android Market app.
Users with Android 2.2 OS or later remain in the clear though, as their devices will continue to support Google's PlayStore.
So, If you are still stuck on devices using Android 2.1 OS or lower, It is finally time to upgrade.
