Samsung phone explodes and almost sets a man on fire in Indonesia

A terrifying moment a man by the name Yulianto, was almost set ablaze by the explosion of a Samsung smartphone in his pocket has been caught on CCTV in Indonesia.

According to dailymail, Yulianto, Aged 47, is a Hotel supervisor who was waiting in the lobby of his hotel when the Samsung Galaxy Duos smartphone, which was in his front shirt pocket, suddenly overheated and caught fire.

The man was about reaching for the phone as he probably felt the phone overheat, but before he knew it, the Galaxy Duos had already set his shirt ablaze sending sparks of fire across the said lobby.

Mr. Yulianto quickly went to the ground before an onlooker rushed to his rescue. The good samaritan can be seen in the footage reaching to help Yulianto as he dramatically removed the burning shirt off his body. It was reported that Yulianto only sustained minor injuries, thanks to how quick he was to get rid of his top.

He further explained that he had never had any issues with the 2013 phone before this incident that occured on the 30th of September, at Hotel Siputra in Semarang. Reports also revealed that the device overheated because he had the WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS on at the same time.

Meanwhile, the Corporate Marketing Director for Samsung in Indonesia, Jo Semirang says the issue is currently been investigated.

This is not the first time a Samsung smartphone will explode, as there has been over 100 cases of such occurrence. The most widely reported, however, is the case of the Note 7 last year. The company had to recall all sold units and stop production, until the phones were refurbished and realased this year as the 'Samsung Note Fan Edition'.

Since then, there has been no reports of any case of explosions for the refurbished Note FE.
