Jumia Shuts Down Jumia Market In Order To Maintain A Unified Selling Platform

Jumia has allegedly shut down one of its e-commerce websites, Jumia Market, according to reports.

According to Innovation Village, Jumia Market confirmed this report via an email they received which was titled"Jumia Market will stop operating in order to offer to you one unified platform, Jumia!"

This comes a few months after the official rebranding of Jumia from African Internet Group. The re-branding, which saw the hotel booking platform, Jovago re-brand to Jumia Travel, HelloFood to Jumia Food and Kaymu to Jumia market, was greeted with mixed feelings by insiders who felt it would be unfavorable for Jumia Market (Kaymu) as it has the same mode of operation with Jumia Mall.

Jumia Market had previously made efforts to distinguish itself from Jumia Mall through a planned means of reaching out to the local market but It seems those plans eventually fell through

There have also been rumors that some workers at Jumia Market have been asked to go home and more are to be retrenched while others will be transferred to Jumia Mall.

As at the time of writing this report, Jumia Market's website is still live and we can't tell what will become of the site for now. So stay tuned as I bring you more report on the developing story.
