Google Adds Auto-Playing Video Preview To Search on Android

Google Adds Auto-Playing Video Preview To Search on Android

Auto-playing video is something almost everyone dislikes because it increases data usage, but auto-playing preview is rather helpful in some cases. Google is rolling out a new feature on its mobile Search that will play a short preview of videos (like movie trailers) that appear as search results.

Google Search already shows a number of related videos on some searches, especially ones with large amounts of video results (like tutorials, reviews, etc). Now these videos will play a short loop of the video contents, instead of a static thumbnail.

And the good news here is that the video preview will only play over a Wi-Fi connection, so you don't have to worry about data consumption. You will also be able to disable the feature if you want to by simply going to the new 'Video' section of the Google app settings and switching off autoplay. There is no mention by the company, if the preview will have audio output.

The update will be rolling out in the coming weeks to the Google app on Android and Chrome for Android.  Let us know in the comment box below if you have received this update!
