Twitter now lets you mute notifications from people you don't follow

A few days back, English singer Ed Sheeran quit Twitter because of abusive tweets from trolls. Well, it seems Twitter is taking a drastic measure to curb situations like that, by giving users more control over their accounts.

Twitter, in a post, announced the addition of new advanced filters that will allow you mute notifications from people you don't follow or vice versa. This way, you can check activities of trolls.

This now takes the number of filters to six and you can choose to enable all if you wish.

Twitter, In a statement, said there is “nothing to share yet on how well the existing mute options have been working and did not say how long new Twitter users will need to use the social network before the new account filter stops blocking them.

“For much of our safety work, we can’t share too many details or people will try to game the system.”
