Kenya ranks top in Africa for fastest mobile internet speed
Kenya, according to a new report, is the country with the fastest mobile internet speed in Africa. The State of the Internet Report for first quarter, 2017 by Akamai, suggested so after collating, sampling and analysing data from more than 108 countries.
Kenya according to the report has the 14th-fastest mobile internet speed with an average of 13.7 Megabits per second.
It may interest you to know that the East African country is ahead of the United States that is ranked 28th with an average speed of 10.7 Mbps.
Meanwhile, other African countries featured in the research include South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria, Namibia, and Egypt with an average of 6.7, 5.2, 3.9, 2.9 and 2 respectively. Kenya is far ahead in Africa with an average of 12.2 Mbps.
Around 88% of Kenya’s population have access to the internet via their phones which may be the reason for their fantastic performance in the research.
