Instagram now lets users share posts directly to their stories

Instagram now lets users share posts directly to their stories

Instagram is looking to bridge the gap between Instagram posts and stories as it adds a new feature that will allow users share photos directly from their posts to stories as stickers.

The new feature will let users share posts either from their private account or  public accounts. Instagram hopes the feature will help users promote friends and brands they like on their own story easily, other than having to screenshot or save the photo first.

To share an Instagram post directly to stories, tap the paper airplane icon (Instagram Direct) at the top right corner above the post to reveal the new "Create a story with this post" option as seen above. Any shared post will contain the username of the original poster and also a link back to the original post. The post, shared as a sticker in stories can also be resized, rearranged, or customized as a background before posting.

Users can only share posts from public accounts to their stories and can also disable anyone from sharing their posts. The new feature has been released on Android and will be coming to iOS in the coming weeks.
