Edo State's first Innovation hub 'Edo Innovates' kicks off June 14th


Edo State to soon launch first Innovation hub

The Government of Edo State, as part of its efforts to boost youth employment, ICT and Innovation in the state is set to launch Edo Innovates; the state’s first innovation hub.

The Initiative is in line with the state government’s vision to create 200,000 jobs by 2020.

Edo Innovates proactively also seeks to tackle the challenges spawned by a fast growing African population, especially youth unemployment breeding risky emigration of youths in search of greener pastures outside the country.

As part of plans for the event, His Excellency, the Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo will be around to launch the hub on the 14th of June, 2018.

It is also worth knowing that Edo Innovates is born out of the necessity to create technically skilled manpower and a vibrant economy leveraging on technology and innovation to contribute significantly to the technology talent pool across the globe and support MSME development.

With this in mind, Edo Innovates is set to engage the teeming youth population and provide a platform for technical and entrepreneurial innovators by providing:

  • Digital Skills
  • Business Support Services
  • Start-up incubation and business acceleration
  • Mentorship
  • Co-working spaces and
  • Entrepreneurship training

As part of the events activities lined up for the launch there will be pitch competitions, training for developers, teachers, students and entrepreneurs etc.
