The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to join forces with Huawei Technologies  to create Smart Cities in Nigeria. This was made known by the Minister of Communications, Barr. Adebayo Shittu at the Smart Cities Nigeria 2017 Summit which took place on the 8th and 9th of August.

The government of Nigeria has approved the ICT Roadmap 2017 to 2020 with the aim of generating 2.5 million jobs in ICT. Also included in the roadmap is the plan for the creation of an ICT University.
